Punchy Tulip Palette

My neighbor's garden inspired this punchy tulip palette, full of warm oranges and deep greens. It's not pastel, but it sure looks like spring!

Spring has sprung and it's time for some color in our lives! I don't know about you, but it's been a bit of a dreary late winter in my world. I tend to get a little bummed out towards the end of the winter, when it seems like the sun will never come out again.

But this week, while I was walking the dog (and let's face it, using any excuse to get out of the house for even a few minutes), I noticed that the daffodils and tulips were starting to bloom around our neighborhood.

One of our neighbors has a small patch of these fiery red tulips lining the front of their house, and they were in full bloom, in defiance of the risk of still-freezing overnight temps. She was outside taking pictures of them, and I wanted to thank her for bringing color into my world.

I got too shy at the last minute, and I didn't want to startle her by appearing out of nowhere on her front sidewalk, so the dog and I kept walking.

But I couldn't stop thinking about those tulips, and how brave they looked, swaying in the chilly breeze.

I have the most respect for early spring flowers.

Tulip Color Palette

Punchy tulip palette with bold oranges and greens

The bold colors in this tulip palette may not be your usual spring pastels, but their bright hues are just what I needed after a long gray winter. Sometimes spring feels less like a gentle awakening, and more like crashing out of the cold.

So this punchy tulip palette is inspiring my projects this week, as the warmer weather is inspiring me to throw open the windows, go on more walks, and start digging around in my garden. If I get real serious about it, I may be able to have tulips by next spring too!

I hope you are finding some much needed inspiration this spring!
