Warm Amethyst Color Palette

Bursting with vibrant purples, soft lavenders, and golden light reflections, this amethyst color palette combines sophisticated complimentary colors for a warm and cozy effect.

In my last semi-precious stone color palette, I shared one of my favorite pink shades and some thoughts on why we need color in our lives. But today I want to share my daughter’s favorite color: purple.

Now, I’m not usually a fan of purple. It looks terrible on me and is pretty difficult to decorate with, but I can’t deny that it’s a beautiful color all on its own. And nowhere is it prettier or purer than in nature, especially in flowers and in gemstones, and sometimes even in sunsets.

Warm Amethyst Color Palette

Color palette based on amethyst stones with purples and a neutral peach.

I’m partial to amethysts because it’s my daughter’s birthstone (February) and I wore an amethyst ring when I was pregnant with her and my fingers were too swollen to fit into my wedding band. It felt like a new kind of promise ring, looking ahead to the month she’d be born.

It turned out a few years later, that she picked purple as her favorite color. No pink for this princess. She wanted purple everything in her room and on her clothes. I don’t know if it was from the influence of it being her birth stone, but she claimed it as her own.

And to this day, she still loves it. Which means I love it too.

I know amethysts aren’t particularly precious or expensive, but they’re one of my favorite semi-precious stones because of the variety of colors you can find. From the palest lilac shade to the deepest royal purple, there’s an amethyst out there for everyone.

In this color palette, I decided to highlight the warm tones from the reflections of light in the stones, paired with purple that’s on the warm side, almost like a deep shade of wine. The combination includes complimentary hues that work well together and bring out some of the more unusual shades of purple found in nature.

Now this is a color of purple I could work with!
