How do I love thee, Coffee? Let me count the ways.
I covet thy bracing strength,
I crave thy comforting warmth,
I thrive on thine aroma of hope and possibilities...
My apologies to Mrs. Barrett Browning. I do so love a good cup of coffee, or three or four. I love it so much, I dedicated a whole
One thing I love about coffee is its many nuances from bean to bean, and between different types of roasting processes. Naturally those nuances made me think of color.
Take brown, for instance. It's brown, right? Well, yes, but it could be so many different flavors of brown from burnt sienna, to dark chocolate, to toasted coconut, to roasted hazelnut. (Can you tell it's before breakfast too?)
Color people know that the basic colors names could never suffice to describe all the beautiful hues in nature. This is why you end up going to the paint store and asking for a gallon of "Exotic Parrot" instead of "Green."
Non-color people either pull out their hair trying to make sense of the bazillion color choices when painting a room, or at the very least just laugh at us for our silliness.
So rather than describe the different tones of brown in this picture, I put it into a palette. Now we don't have to come up with names, we can just bask in the glory of all those beautiful coffee beans.
You go ahead and bask, I'll be in the kitchen making coffee.

Beautiful! As always! And this comment from a non-coffee drinker (GASP!).

These are gorgeous! From a coffee-holic, too. The rich dark brown looks very much like the color I painted my front door (interior) of my house in Florida. It was my favorite color ever.

Coffee-holics unite!

Great post! Makes me want coffee. And I am not a coffee drinker. 🙂
Meredith says
Thanks Sabrina! I'm on a mission to convert everyone to coffee drinkers like me. 😉

I actually did an ode to coffee last year in my blog, so you know I'm on board with you. I love this! I can actually smell coffee just by looking at it. Yum!

Meredith, I love the coffee colours and a cup of coffee to go along with it. I have had to -unwillingly- cut down on my coffee consumption and I am being good but nothing really gives the same satisfaction, not even my evening glass of wine. So you go ahead and recruit/unite coffee drinkers. It's for the good of all.
Meredith says
I agree Lenie, nothing quite replaces a good cup of coffee. I've had to cut back on mine too, and it's killing me!

I would like to share three things in this comment:
(1) When I was a paperboy many moons ago, I did my route on a chestnut-colored Schwinn 10-speed.
(2) On my color-coded technical blog, I use brown to denote values of all types (strings, numbers, booleans).
(3) I drink the hot, black liquid every day of my life.
Meredith says
Who would have thought that humble brown could play such an important role in life?!
