As promised, I’m returning this month with a non-Christmas-y color palette. (How did red and green get chosen as the official colors of Christmas anyway?)
Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas and everything about it. The smells of cookies baking, the sounds of snow crunching underfoot, the mounds of wrapping paper all over my kitchen table for weeks at a time. OK, maybe not that last one. But the thing I love most about Christmas is the Why. Why do we stuff ourselves, rush around getting the perfect gifts, and max out our schedules trying to attend every party? Actually I don’t know why we do those things. But I do know why we celebrate Christmas itself.
Because many years ago, on a cold starry night, the One who put the stars in the sky came down to be with us.
And that is something to celebrate.
O holy night the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new glorious morn.
Fall on your knees, O hear the angels’ voices
O night divine, O night when Christ was born.

Quite simply, beautiful. Everything... the sentiment, the message, the colors. Merry Christmas Meredith and the best of everything this coming year.
