With vibrant blues, anchored by gold and dusty lavender, this lapis lazuli color palette brings a whole new twist to jewel tones.
Today’s color palette is the beginning of a new semi-precious stone color collection. I have always gravitated towards semi-precious stones, mostly because my budget doesn’t allow for actual precious stones. But also because they come with such interesting arrays of color. The stones themselves are sometimes softer, always imperfect, and just generally more interesting than, say, a diamond.
Lapis Lazuli is one of my favorite stones. I love the deep blues, set with flecks of gold, and its unassuming soft sheen.
I have a pair of lapis earrings that I loved, but sadly one went missing. I keep hanging onto the one earring, hoping the other will magically reappear someday, but so far nothing. Maybe I’ll have the stones from the remaining one reset in a necklace?
In the meantime, I thought I’d build a color palette around this pretty blue stone that almost looks like the ocean as it crashes into the sand.
Lapis Lazuli Color Palette
Cobalt blue, aquamarine, quartz, and gold all play nicely with a soft grayed-out lavender to create a soothing yet active blend of blues and neutrals.
The movement in this stone keeps my eye dancing all over it, and reminds me of dashing in and out of the waves at the beach. Now I think I need to plan a vacation!
