Hidden Flamingo Palette

As I was looking around for some color palette inspiration today, this picture caught my eye. How can something be so beautiful and awkward at the same time? I mean, this pose does not look comfortable to me, but this flamingo sure seems to be sleeping peacefully. And then there is the color contrast. He (or she?) is so delicately pink and each shaded feather is exquisite, but the water beneath looks so drab and gray.Hidden Flamingo Palette

This hidden flamingo reminds me that in art, as in life, it’s the contrast… the balancing act… that keeps things interesting. So here’s to sleeping on one leg, and to the beauty of awkwardness.

This is a pleasing palette and one I know I would feel at home in. Based on this flamingo's color, I'd say it needs more shrimp in its diet. I remember hearing once that's where their feathers get the pink color from all the crustaceans they eat.

I was wondering about that too, Jeri. But maybe it's just young? Either way, it sure is a pretty color!

What a beautiful contrast between the soft pink and the bold green, wait that is not even a green. I don't know how to describe it but it is stunning nevertheless. Meredith I am hosting a new link party, Sweet Inspiratioins and would love to have you join us it runs Friday till Tuesday..

Beautiful combination and I love the sort of marbled effect on the Flamingo feathers!
