Reflecting Pool Palette

In a season full of running around, shopping, decorating, and baking, I thought we could all use a little calm in our lives. What, you're already done with all your holiday shopping? You've made your cookies for the cookie exchange? Your handmade pinterest-worthy teacher gifts are finished and wrapped?

Well, OK then, maybe it's just me. I could definitely use some calm in my life, so I'm finding it and sharing it with you.

When I stumbled across this photo on one of my favorite Instagram feeds, @PunkRockFoto, it felt like a breath of fresh air. She perfectly captured the movement of the water that feels so calming, and the feel of sitting next to a quiet pond or pool. I call this palette "Reflecting Pool" after she described the photo as "A deep breath. A palate cleanser. An image of reflective rest."

That's what I need right now. Some reflective rest.

I always find greens so calming, and yet energizing at the same time. That's why this is the perfect photo and palette for a hectic time of year.

We don't have a lot of ponds here in the desert, so we kind of have to make our own. I think that's a great metaphor for life. Even in the midst of the chaos, you have to find a way to take a moment, breathe deep and look around with peace and gratitude.

So go out there and find your own reflecting pond, whether literal or figurative, and do some reflecting. And if you come back energized enough, I could sure use some help with my holiday baking.
