Summer Fruit Palette

Today I’m sharing a palette with ulterior motives. We’ve moved into our new house and started painting the walls, at least the ones we’re not planning on removing anytime soon. I’ve fallen in love with a deep dark teal and gray theme, and am now trying to figure out if I want to accent those colors with pink and coral. Does that sound crazy?

Here’s how it looks in a palette:

Looks good enough to eat, right? But I’m not sure whether I can translate it to my house without visitors thinking I’ve gone off the design deep end.

Here’s a little preview of our living room, from the kitchen. Half-wall-progress

(Don’t pay too much attention to the construction zone, just imagine the walls are all patched and dry-walled.)

So what do you think? Can I get away with some pops of coral and/or blush pink with that dark teal wall? Leave me a comment below, and I promise not to hold you responsible if I take your advice!

Some pops of coral would be perfect. I would really like to figure out how to use coral in my house in some way.

I agree! I love that it's a bold, complex color.

Great colors. My house is layed out the same way. But our rooms are a little smaller. I love coral! We had coral actually in the dining room half wall side and the living room wall. It was fun to have a surprise color on a wall you didn't see immediately. You probably know this style of color decor. But I read years ago when we first moved into our house that the line of sight should be the same color. So from you photos point of view. The color teal would be on the kitchen wall as well as the far living room wall. It was a neat look as we painted. Then we picked complementary paint colors for the other rooms walls. It worked for me because I wanted one splash of color in each room. Good luck on your painting and congratulations on the new house.

Thanks Sabrina! I hadn't heard that before about the line of sight, but that makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing!

I think it's an outstanding idea. Will provide a great pop of color. Can't wait to see the pictures when you do it.

I say GO FOR IT, Meredith! That's the great thing about paint! You can always change it if you don't like it!

Thanks C.D. You're so right! Nothing another can of paint couldn't fix!

Looks beautiful! Kind of a play on red/green complementary colors (but less Christmasy :) ). I can't wait to see your final results!

You're right Natalie, I didn't even think of that! Complimentary colors are great for making a room pop.
