Spring Blossoms Palette

I’ve got a colorful Spring Blossoms Palette for you this week, to celebrate the warmer weather, chirping birds, and blooming plants of Spring.

This week has been Spring Break for my kids, and we celebrated with a Staycation. We’ve slept in shamelessly, gone hiking and exploring, and even rode the train to Santa Fe. We’ve also sneezed a lot.

I believe that God gave us beautiful flowers in the Spring to make up for the pollen they create. What’s that? You say that’s not scientifically accurate?

Well, maybe not, but it’s what keeps me sane as I drive down our street enjoying all the pink cherry trees, reminding myself it’s not them I’m allergic to. They just happen to be blooming at the same time as the Juniper, which I definitely AM allergic to.

If you don’t know (and why should you if you’re not from New Mexico?), Juniper is a mostly useless, not-so-pretty, desert-loving shrub that makes my life miserable every year at this time. So with tears welling in my eyes, and sneezes building in my nose, I choose to ignore the Juniper and focus on prettier plants instead. This delicate spring blossoms palette blooms with vibrant pinks and grounded green.

Thank you Lord for pretty things to look at, and thank you Big Pharma for the allergy drugs so I can pry open my gritty eyes to see them!

Such an accurate palette to describe spring! :) Thanks for sharing Meredith! Love the colors. So refreshing and calming. Is it still spring in your pace right now?

Thanks Emmerey! Yes, it's still spring, but the blossoms are giving way to leaves. But that's OK, in the desert we appreciate anything green!

I feel your hay fever pain, Meredith. When I lived in Philadelphia, there was a two-week period spanning the end of April through the beginning of May during which I was absolutely incapacitated by my allergies - I am not exaggerating when I say that I had to blow my nose every three minutes or so! I don't know what it was that made me so miserable, but whatever it was, it had me thinking, "Let's turn this into a parking lot." Thankfully, I don't suffer nearly as much here in California, where I'm currently living.

That's good! Perhaps there are already enough parking lots there? ;)

Such a soothing and lovely palette. It's definitely familiar as I'm looking out my office window now at my apple tree that is about to blossom. At first the blossoms are a deep magenta, and then they turn light pink to almost white. It never gets old.

That's it, I'm planting an apple tree! Yours sounds perfectly inspiring!

Celebrating spring by sitting in front of a roaring fire, covered up with a shawl! I need to visit your neighborhood soon to see the cherry blossoms.

You better come by soon, before they all get blown off the trees by the wind!
