Raise your hand if you like to shop. (Keep ’em up.) Now raise your hand if you like to save money. (I see you out there!) Now, raise your hand if you’d like shopping better if you could do it in your jammies with a nice cup of cocoa in your hand and no purse on your arm. (Aaaaand that’s everyone.) I love to shop, but I’m also lazy. I love to save money, but not at the expense of hours of clipping coupons and tracking prices. And I just love to be in my jammies, period.
That’s why I was so excited to learn about Shopswell.com. Shopswell is like Pinterest for shopping. Only better. If you’ve ever clicked on a cool product from your Pinterest feed, only to be disappointed when you’re not able to buy it or even find that product on the link that opens, you’ll love knowing that Shopswell only features products available for sale and even shows you the current price! Shopswell is perfect for designing rooms.
If I were still designing for clients, I could make a whole shopping list based on a room we were working on, pull together with one click each resource necessary for remodeling and furnishing that room, and then share it with my client for her to pick and choose which items she likes and wants to purchase. As if that weren’t cool enough to make me want to go back to designing, they also have this amazing price tracking feature.
So let’s say you have your eye on a new Le Creuset dutch oven, but alas, it retails for $500! (I can’t imagine spending $500 on a pot that I don’t even know how to use, but I assume people do, or they wouldn’t be selling them.) You can add the item to one of your lists by simply copying the link, and then set up price tracking with just a couple of clicks. Shopswell will alert you whenever the price changes, or you can even tell them to notify you when it reaches a certain price. No more spending hours trolling the internet for sales. Just set it up in Shopswell and they’ll do the work for you. Let’s look at an example.
I’ve been having fun window shopping and setting up lists. Here is one I made for a Vintage Industrial Style Kitchen. (You can click on the image below to go look at the list, or just read on to see an excerpt.)
I’ve been loving this style for a while, but window shopping is as far as I get since I really can’t justify redoing another room in my house. So for the fun of it, I set up a list on Shopswell. Now I can share my list with anyone interested in designing their kitchen in that style, or my friends and family can do a little shopping for me if they get the urge. (Did I mention it’s my birthday today?) All I did was browse around Shopswell and see what other folks have shared in their kitchen lists, and saved items that intrigued me onto my list. Then I went to other websites that sell items I’m interested in and copied links to products I like, just to make the list extra pretty and purposeful. (I even added one of my own tea towels from Etsy. Shameless self-promotion!)
List building is easy peasy, and lots of fun. Here’s what it looks like on the inside:
Oh, and one more thing, you can actually earn money by shopping and sharing! Check out their Shop.Share.Win Program if you need any more excuses to start shopping.
Jammies? Check. Cocoa? Check. I’m ready to go shopping. Who’s with me?
