Why buy it for $7 when you could make it yourself with $92 of craft supplies?
That pretty much describes the life of a DIY-er. Or upon further thought, it may be that DIY-ing just provides a thin cover for my slight hoarding tendency.
I’ve recently decided to learn the art of hand-lettering. I’ve never loved my handwriting (insert sob story about being home-schooled in China by my left-handed mother the year everyone else learned cursive back in the States) and now I’m motivated to do something about it. Plus I get to buy stuff. So I recently took myself on a little shopping spree to Hobby Lobby, buying pens, paper, ink, and how-to books. But one thing I didn’t think of was the need for good lighting.
Fortunately, just about the time I got frustrated with my lack of a good desk lamp to help me see the product of all these cool shiny new tools, OakLeaf stepped in and asked me to try out their new Dimmable LED desk lamp. I was skeptical that an LED lamp would work for me when I prefer natural light, but they’ve accounted for that with three different color settings to mimic different types of light. Plus, the brightness level is adjustable, which makes the lighting perfect for any setting.
When I received the lamp, I pulled it out of the box fully assembled, plugged it in, and went to town. Couldn’t have been easier. One neat little feature is the USB charger built into the lamp’s base. Now I can keep my phone handy while it’s charging and playing inspiring music for my artistic endeavors, without stringing extra cords across my desk.
My only problem now is fending off my husband and daughters, who all want it for their desks. I told them they should start their own blogs.
