Frosted Palette and the Winter Blues

This frosty blue palette is perfect for bringing a chill to the air, any time of year.

Here in Albuquerque it sure is frosty but there are no jolly singing snowmen to be found anywhere. The sun is shining, and the only glimpse of winter that we get is the frost on our rooftops in the morning.

Not that I’m complaining. I’ve lived in other, snowier, places and while winter weather can be fun and interesting, days on end of clouds and damp are not built into my DNA.

We haven’t yet passed the winter solstice yet, and I’m already pining for warmer weather and barefoot days.

I’m a Texas girl. A summer girl. Happiest surrounded by hot beaches, sand, and glaring sun. At least we have plenty of sand and sun in the desert southwest. It sure beats icy gray days that eat away at your soul.

Frosty Palette with Blues, Gray, and Green

As much as I love the sun, I must admit I do love blues and greens when it comes to color, art, and decorating.

A frost bubble against a blue background provides inspiration for a blue and green color palette.

My whole house color palette can probably be summed up by this frosted palette. Maybe living in such a sunny place prompts me to bring relaxing, cool colors inside.

These blues and greens would be perfect for knitting a winter scarf, or perhaps creating a gorgeous poured painting. (If you haven’t tried paint pouring yet, you totally should!)

Sending Sun and Warm Wishes

This frosted palette seemed appropriate for creating a winter color palette, but in reality I’m sending you warm sunny thoughts.

In New Mexico, we celebrate the Christmas season with Biscochitos, Luminarias, and Tamales. And lots of sunshine. Our vitamin D levels have got to be the highest in the country.

So if you’re feeling the winter blues, come visit! I have plenty of sunshine to share. However the Biscochitos are a different story. I may be hoarding those a little.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and may the sun shine a little brighter on you today, wherever you are!
