Bring the Indoors Out with an Outdoor Rug

Designing a comfortable patio starts with function, but it doesn’t have to end there. To truly create an outdoor living space, you need to add a few touches of comfort, like an outdoor rug. And I’ve got just the place to find one!

This month marks the beginning of outdoor living in our part of the world, and I’m jumping on that bandwagon by making over my back patio, just in time for summer. Last week we painted our concrete block wall, which made the whole space feel more inviting and lived in, and now we’re moving on to decorating the space under our gazebo.

I want my outdoor dining space to feel comfortable and inviting, just like a room in the house. I’ll be updating my dining set with paint, and adding some cozy lighting for those late night margarita-fueled chat fests with my girlfriends. But first, I need to bring some color to this space and tie it all together somehow. The best way to make the outdoors feel a little more like a cozy room in the house is with a rug.

Rugs are a perfect way to bring color and pattern to a space, without forever committing to paint or some other permanent installation. And with an outdoor rug, there’s no need to worry about messes and wear and tear.

Psst. Outdoor rugs also make a great addition to your indoor dining space. They’re super durable and easy to clean, so you don’t have to worry about spills. You can just take them outside and hose them off!Pick the Perfect Outdoor Rug

Where to Find the Best Outdoor Rugs

Outdoor rugs can sometimes be hard to find in local stores, and tend to be a seasonal item, but I have the solution for you: Wovenly Rugs. Now I know you might be a little hesitant to order a rug online, since sometimes you don’t know how it will really look until you get it set up in your space. (I once returned 6 different rugs before I found the one I wanted for my living room!) But Wovenly’s got you covered with a 60 day trial, and free shipping and returns. And the selection is awesome! (Their selection of indoor rugs is amazing too, but that’s a whole ‘nother post!)

Here’s a few of my favorite outdoor rugs, by style category. (Click on the names for links.)

Modern

Argonaut

White rug with blue circlesWith bold color and pattern, this one really grabs your attention and claims its space. It works with both coastal and modern designs.

Gulliver

Teal and cream colored rugI love this teal color, and the funky design gives it lots of movement. I’m really leaning toward this one for my outdoor space.

Bohemian

Journey

Cream colored rug with colorful aztec patternsI love the modern bohemian feel of this one. The colors are subtle but varied and it would look great with some fun boho accessories, like tassled throw blankets.

Medley

Dark blue and white patterned outdoor rugThe bold navy color and geometric designs of “Medley” give it a world traveler vibe which would brighten up any outdoor room.

Traditional

Lacere

Aqua and white patterned outdoor rugThe subtle sea-green of this rug, along with it’s traditional medallion design makes it a great compliment to any style of decor.

Clide

Red outdoor rug with traditional kilim patternThis rug could fit just about any style category. It has a traditional style and color, but with updated modern geometric designs and a slight boho feel. It defies categorization, but it’s one of my very favorites.

You can’t go wrong with any of these choices, and there are plenty more to choose from on Wovenly’s website. It might take me a while to pick my favorite!

Wovenly offers an amazing selection of fresh styles and high quality materials and workmanship, all at impressive prices. Give them a try and brighten up your outdoor (or indoor) space!

Perfect timing - we are redoing our back yard by adding a pavilion, poured concrete and a floating deck. Was deciding if we should add a rug. Thank you for the inspiration!
